Booking a cooking class during your villa stay is a fun, enriching way to truly savor life in Tuscany. Here are cooking classes available through RentVillas:
Our very own private Tuscan chefs, Matisse and Giuseppina, can turn a Tuscan meal prepared in the comfort of your villa into a cooking lesson! Over the course of four hours, your private chef will teach you how to prepare an authentic feast…and then you get to enjoy it! Cost per person: 100 Euros (4-12 pax); 50 Euros per child (ages 6-11). Includes travel up to 100 km round trip, groceries, table service, and clean-up; does not include beverages.
Enjoy whole or half day cooking instruction programs with Giuseppina at her cooking school near Certaldo. Create authentic, mouthwatering Tuscan antipasti (such as marmalata di cipolle con pecorino or crema di funghi porcini); find out why you shouldn’t put wine in risotto; and discover the secret of the world’s lightest tiramisú! The full-day experience starts with a cappuccino and brioche at the Certaldo bar and includes a visit to the local market. The class capacity is 8-10 people, so unless your group is six or more people, you will join an open class with other food enthusiasts. Your group and Giuseppina will select the freshest ingredients before adjourning to the cooking school for a light lunch. That’s when the real work starts: preparing a four-course meal including antipasti, primi, secondi, and dolci. At the end of the day, all participants enjoy the fruits of the day’s labors. The half-day experience skips the market visit and focuses on meal preparation. Cost per person: 140 Euros for a full day or 95 Euros for half (2-12 pax- open class, or your own group of 6 or more); 200 Euros per person for a private class (2-5 pax). Children (ages 6-11) are half price. Beverages included in the price.
Cooking Course and Wine “in Cantina” Montepulciano (full-day): Your day begins with a guided walking tour of Montepulciano. Then, there’s a wine tasting (you’re on vacation, after all!) , followed by a cooking class in a countryside winery kitchen. Your chef will teach you how to prepare antipasti, a typical homemade pasta and sauce, a contorno (side dish), as well as traditional dessert. Wine pairings will be discussed and liberally sampled! Included in the price is transportation from the Cortona train station, a private guide, a wine tasting, and a cooking class. This tour/cooking class is offered Monday-Saturday (9:15 AM-3:00/3:30 PM). Cost per person: 220 Euros (for 2-3 pax); 150 Euros (for 4-5 pax); 135 Euros (for 6-7 pax); 120 Euros (for 8-9 pax); 105 Euros (for 10-11 pax); 95 Euros (for 12 pax). Children 0-6 are free. Children ages 6-10 pay 50% of the adult per person cost. Gratuity is not included in the price.
Cooking Course At Your Villa Near Cortona (3 hours): Your chef will arrive at your villa in the afternoon (around 4:00 PM and together you will prepare a typical Tuscan dinner, including an antipasto, a pasta, a meat dish with vegetables, and a delicious dessert. A superb glass of wine (from Villa Loggio; included in the price along with still and sparkling water) will also accompany the meal! Children are welcome to participate and any special food requirements, such as a vegetarian preference or food allergies, can be accommodated. There is no charge for children 0-6. Children ages 6-10 pay 50% of the adult per person cost. Please indicate any special requests at the time of booking. Note that a gluten-free menu will be priced the same as the menu chosen by the rest of the group; any problem ingredients will be substituted accordingly. If homemade gluten-free pasta (which requires additional dough preparation) is requested, there will be an extra charge of 8 Euros per person. Menus 1, 2, 3 and Vegetarian are based upon the whole group cooking the same items. Cost per person: Menu 1 – 110 Euros (for 2-3 pax); 85 Euros (for 4-5 pax); 85 Euros (for 6-7 pax); 85 Euros (for 8-9 pax). Upon receipt of the deposit, you will be put in direct contact with the Chef, who will be able to answer your specific questions regarding the details of the meal, including balance payment, extra costs, and the meeting time.
